roXiva Wellness Treatments

Health and safety information

The RoXiva lamp is intended for users in good general health, and who are interested in potentially improving their general wellness. Please note that it is not a medical device and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition.

The lamp emits a flashing (stroboscopic) white light and is designed to be used with your eyes closed.

Whilst we take every precaution to ensure your safety, you should be aware that there is a statistical chance of 1 in 3000 people being sensitive to flashing light, and in rare cases this could trigger a seizure. This type of risk is the reason why TV news shows often warn ahead of time that “flash photography may be used in the following news clip”. For most of us we have come to ignore these announcements because we are not in that group of people at risk, but the risk remains.

The lamp may trigger epileptic seizures in photosensitive individuals, and is not intended for:

  • Prevention, treatment, relief, or healing of disease.
  • Medicinal use or as a substitute for prescribed medicines.
  • Use in the diagnosis of any kind of illness or disorder.
  • Influencing the physical body in structure or design.

Contraindications for use

Please be aware that there are a variety of contraindications for safe use of the lamp. If you can answer yes to any of the following (*including any previous history) then you should not use the lamp.

Have you or are you diagnosed with or have a history of any of the following:

  • Epilepsy or any kind of seizure, family history of epilepsy*
  • Psychological or psychiatric conditions, including psychosis*
  • Depression/high anxiety*
  • Heart condition/Stroke*
  • Brain injury/surgery/severe head injury/concussion*
  • Photosensitive medication*
  • Recreational/psychoactive drug use 24 hours before lamp use
  • Health issues requiring treatment
  • Fitted with a cardiac pacemaker*
  • Pregnancy
  • Facial laser treatment in the past month
  • Under the influence of drugs/alcohol

The lamp should never be used with children.

If you are in any doubt about with any of the above, then please do not use the lamp until you have consulted with a medical professional.

3.0 Device Overview

The Roxiva RX1 is a state-of-the-art device combining the best of audiovisual entrainment and brain activation strategies in expertly created immersive journeys. It uses synchronized compositions of light and sound to guide users into specific brainwave states, promoting various mental benefits such as relaxation, creativity, altered and expanded states of consciousness.

How the RX1 Works.
Top down and bottom up brain training:

There are two ways to facilitate change in the body/mind system. One is considered a top down approach and the other is considered a bottom up approach. This is a little bit like the principle of cause and effect.

For example: A person might have stressful thinking that causes broken sleep. Or they may have a belief that they are not good enough which causes them to not apply for a better job. Working on the effect directly (broken sleep or not going for that better job) would be considered a top down approach. IE: The desire is to have the new behaviour filter down into the body/mind system and effect long term change. Working on the cause (stressful thinking or the negative belief) would be considered a bottom up approach. IE: The desire is to create a new set point that naturally filters its way up into new behaviours. Both can be effective.

Roxiva uses both approaches. AVE would be considered a top down approach, while the altered states facilitated by choreographedvisual/auditory landscapes would be considered a bottom up approach. Both are enhanced by combining RoXiva with other modalities.

Audio-Visual Entrainment (AVE):

One of the targets of the RX1 is using a combination of flickering light and rhythmic sounds to encourage your brainwaves to match specific frequencies associated with relaxation, focus, creativity and others. Every body/mind state has an associated pattern of brain activity with it. AVE seeks to ‘entrain’ this brain activity to the patterns that match the goal of the session. This is one of the ways that a top down approach to change the session. This is one of the ways that a top down approach to change works.

Targeting Brainwave States:

Sessions are designed to target certain brainwave states, such as Gamma for cognitive benefit or Theta for deep meditation. This ability to fine-tune mental states combined with deep inner journeys is what makes the RX1 an effective tool for personal growth and mental wellness. As a way to facilitate the full potential of AVE, visual and auditory landscapes are added.

Visual and Auditory Landscapes:

Roxiva sonic and light based architecture goes beyond AVE and into brain activation. Expertly crafted lightscapes and soundscapes result in states of mind that AVE, meditation and other forms of relaxation technique cannot accomplish alone. And these states, highlighted by a sense of awe, wonder and curiosity, build new states of mind which lead to resilience and personal transformation. Given the right environment or experience, the body/mind is a self regenerating and balancing system. This is one of the ways that a bottom up approach to change works. Altered states lead to altered traits.

3.2 Brainwave States and Their Relevance.

The RX1 can guide users into various brainwave states associated with different mental and emotional benefits. Knowing these states can help you select the right session for your goals. Brainwaves are measured in Hertz (Hz) which is another name for cycles per second. In the case of light this means flashes per second. For example, 10Hz is 10 flashes/pulses per second.

Understanding Brainwave Frequencies. Delta (0.5 – 4 Hz):

This is the slowest brainwave frequency, typically associated with deep, restorative sleep. Delta waves are also linked to physical healing and cell regeneration.

Theta (4 – 8 Hz):

Theta waves occur during deep meditation or light sleep. They are often linked with creativity, emotional healing, and deep relaxation.

Alpha (8 – 12Hz):

Alpha waves are present when you are calm and relaxed but still awake. This state is often associated with a meditative, focused awareness.

Beta (12 – 30Hz):

Beta waves are faster and are commonly seen in active, alert, or problemsolving states. Higher beta states can also be linked to stress, so a balance is key. A subset of Beta is called SMR (12-15Hz)

Gamma (> 30 Hz):

Gamma waves are the fastest brainwaves, associated with heightened perception, peak focus, and cognitive processing. Gamma states are sometimes experienced during moments of insight or high creativity.

Using Brainwave States with RX1.

Many RX1 sessions target specific brainwave frequencies to help you reach your desired state. Whether you’re looking to relax, focus, or enhance creativity, knowing which brainwave state to target will guide your session choice.
